One of Vidal Sassoon’s mantras was that ‘the cut is everything’.


This was one of the founding principles that underpinned his philosophy and approach to hairdressing. 

When he first started out in the 1950’s, women often had their hair long, curled, or piled up high and fixed
into place with impossible amounts of hairspray. Vidal understood that this did not sit easily with
womens’ new found independence and movement into the mainstream work place.

Hair had to look great every day with the minimum amount of effort – a simple but challenging vision
that drove his creativity and also led to one of the biggest revolutions in hairdressing.

The aim is that the products you use should simply enhance and keep your hair looking as natural as possible. I have chosen a few products which I feel are essential to keep hair free from build-up and maintain condition.

Whilst everybody has highly individual hair, Wella’s System Professional (SP) products are well formulated
and meet basic requirements very well.








                    






SP Hydrate Shampoo – a great hair cleanser which works for normal to dry hair and does a great job of keeping hair moisturised and manageable without overloading.








SP Hydrate Conditioner – good for normal to dry hair, leaving a soft feel and long term protection against dehydration.









SP Mask Colour Saver – for coloured hair, protects against fade and prolongs depth of shade. This is a deep conditioning hair treatment which is used as required.








SP Hydro Finish – one of my favourites. After towel drying, spray this in to slightly moist hair. Locks in moisture and keeps hair supple and easy to blow dry whilst avoiding static build-up and flyaway hair. 








SP Perfect Hold Hairspray - a good holding product with the added benefit of brushing out easily without leaving heavy build-up.








Davines No.4 Glossy Modeling Putty for Wizards – not a Wella product, but fantastic for shorter hair to give texture and detail. Warm a small amount in your palms and apply lightly and evenly through hair. Only apply small amounts at a time, to gradually achieve a finish without overloading your hair. Provides great final styling without any heaviness or stiffness, allowing hair to maintain a natural look and movement.
