Anyone who takes their hair seriously can tell you, changing your
hairdresser can be a worrying or even traumatic experience.
Understandably it is not a step we take lightly.

I have personally stuck with my own hairdresser and former Vidal Sassoon
art director, Howard Harrison for the last 20 years!

Your hair is one of the first things people notice about you, and how you feel about your
hair can directly impact the way you feel about yourself. Being entrusted with that
responsibility is something I take seriously.

The philosophy I have adopted with regard to both my work and my clients’ needs
is one of collaboration. A cardinal sin in hairdressing is to not listen to a client’s wants and needs.
Even with regular and longstanding clientele I still conduct a pre-cut consultation on each new visit.

With new clients, a full, detailed and comprehensive consultation is of utmost importance.
With each new prospective client I offer this service for free with absolutely no obligation attached,
and the assessment takes around 30 minutes as a guideline.

The consultation is vitally important for the client to get their needs and expectations
across (as well as providing an opportunity for them to assess me directly!),
and similarly it enables me to assess issues such as hair type, suitability of
hair styles and even fashion preferences and facial structure.

My expertise centres on cutting hair, and as such I do not offer colouring.

My fees range from £80 for private appointments
to £175 at the Josh Wood Atelier in London.

Working freelance means that I produce results which are complete and conducted in a relaxed
manner with attention to fine detail. It is not uncommon for an appointment to last for
up to 2 hours – it is the final result which matters, not the time constraints.
